After holding the opposing team to only three points over the game’s last three quarters, the Pope John Panthers 4th grade girls basketball team lost to the unbeaten Saint Bartholomew Crusaders 17-15, securing second place at the Catholic schools “Big-10” League championship tournament on Sunday, March 14. To the best of anyone’s recollection, this is the farthest that any Pope John team has gone in 16 years.
According to Mrs. Rosalie Musiala, principal, the Panthers have a reputation in the league not only for their great team spirit but also for their sportsmanship.
The 4th grade boys lost a hard-fought game Saturday, March 13 and received 3rd place in their championship bracket. Congratulations to all 4th grade basketball players! You are setting the standard for PJ23 sports. |
