SPRED GROUP SESSIONS

Our SPRED Group sessions with our "FRIENDS" occur on every other Tuesday evening at 7 pm in the Church Gathering Space from September until May. Our Adult Group meets opposite Tuesdays to plan for the next and to review the past session.
SPRED (Special Religious Development) is a program of the Archdiocese of Chicago, based in 150+ parishes, including Saint Mary. SPRED is a network of services designed to assist persons with developmental disabilities and/or learning problems to become integrated into parish assemblies of worship through the process of education in faith.
Each SPRED Center has a core team of a parish chairperson, a leader catechist, and an activity catechist, along with helper catechists. Each catechist is trained and makes a covenant to follow the SPRED standards. We gather every other Tuesday evening from September until December 1st. Then, we will resume our sessions in February. |
SPRED welcomes children, teens, young adults, and adults with special needs into their parish communities with experiential and spiritual small group sessions. SPRED of Saint Mary is devoted to teens and young adults who are each paired with a trained catechist. New members are invited.

To make a donation, please put an envelope in the Sunday collection basket marked “SPRED”. Make checks payable to Saint Mary Parish and be sure to write “SPRED” on the memo line.

SPRED Offers Wish List
Every session of Friends (Young Adults) and Catechists of SPRED (Special Religious Development) opens with a calming and quieting activity time. Your donations are invited to fulfill our wishes. Please drop them off at the Parish Center (1012 Lake Street) or place them in the SPRED Basket in the Lake Street vestibule of the church. SPRED is wishing for gift certificates to IKEA, COST PLUS/WORLD MARKET and BLICK ART MATERIALS; nature or art coloring books; nature or art large piece puzzles; and kaleidoscopes.
