Please welcome the Summer Mission Speaker at all Masses next weekend
Next weekend, September 4 and 5, a representative of the Sister Servants of the Sacred Heart will be here to share their story with us and ask for our help in their mission.
The Sister Servants minister to the needs of single mothers, women who have been abused and their children. They offer shelter as well as encouragement to these mothers through a pro-life message to nurture the children they’ve brought into the world and encourage faith development in these women and their children.
Please come ready to open your hearts and minds to these servants and be as generous as you can.

Fr. Greg Sakowicz, Saint Mary’s new pastor, began his ministry here on July 1 and delivered his first homily here at Saint Mary at all of the Masses on the weekend of July 3 and 4. His formal installation will be on Sunday, September 26 at the 11 am Mass. Party to follow.

Eucharistic Adoration is an opportunity to come before the Real and True Presence of the Lord and “encounter” Christ. In the peace and quiet of adoration, one may clear away the hectic pace of daily life, pour out fears and failings and ask for God’s blessing and guidance in all things.
Eucharistic Adoration brings a sense of peace, increases love of the Lord and brings good to the parish. Volunteers are needed to take one-hour shifts. To sign up for an hour or offer to assist with simple organizational tasks, please call at 847-830-4588 or email us at EucharisticAdoration@stmaryparish-evanston.org.
See Liturgical Ministries / Eucharistic Adoration Ministers for schedule.
Saturdays at 7:30 am in Church

At the 9:30 am Mass on Sundays
from September through May with the exception of Easter Sunday and Pentecost
What’s going on back there in the Cape Cod Room? Almost the same things that are going on in the larger assembly in the church. Even though we often say we celebrate the Children’s Liturgy of the Word, that isn’t the right phrase to use for what we do: we gather to celebrate the Liturgy of the Word with Children. It is the same Liturgy of the Word that we all celebrate with some adaptations. This celebration of the Word is an opportunity for school age children to encounter the Word of God in a setting that encourages them to listen actively, and to respond to God’s Word.
We use the Lectionary for Children, which adapts some of the readings, but essentially the children are hearing the same readings. We proclaim the readings, sing the psalm, encouraging the children to become comfortable making the responses. We pray the Creed and the Prayer of the Faithful. The children are not just hearing stories, singing songs or doing activities; they are learning to participate in the liturgy in a setting that gives them a better opportunity to see and hear and encounter the Word of God in ways appropriate to their ages.
Children should be at least five years old and can be as old as junior high school students. Older children can learn to take leadership roles as readers and leaders of song, leading the younger children out of and back into the worship space. Preschool children are welcome to join us if accompanied by a parent or older brother or sister.

Feel free to call with questions or concerns!
