The Society of St. Vincent de Paul is an International Lay Catholic Charitable Organization founded in 1833 by Frederic Ozanam and his companions. Members call themselves “Vincentians” after the recognized patron saint of charity, St. Vincent de Paul. We are inspired by his spirit to serve the suffering and needy. We gather in parish-based groups or Conferences. The Conferences are linked together by Districts (Archdiocesan), National and International Councils. St. Mary Conference is in Chicago’s District II. We have fifteen active members. As a reflection of the whole family of God, we are drawn from every cultural and ethnic background, age group, and economic level. Our parishioners fund our ministry with their donations.
People who need help call our “hotline” at 847-869-6134. Requests for help include: food, rent, mortgage, light, heat, water, transportation, phone, clothing, prescriptions, furniture. We listen to the messages and call to make appointments to visit them at their homes. We always visit in pairs. Based on the information provided during the home visits, we determine just how we can best help. We respect individuals’ needs by extending confidentiality.
Vincentians witness God’s love by embracing all works of charity and justice. We are united by the spirit of poverty, humility, and sharing, which is nourished by prayer and reflection, mutually supportive gatherings, and adherence to the Rule of St. Vincent de Paul. We always welcome new members. Please call us with your questions or to express your interest in joining us at 847-869-6134.

Feel free to call with questions or concerns!
