Art & Environment Committee Invites You to Join Us...
What is our mission? We work toward enriching our community worship experience by providing the appropriate environment for liturgies and seasons.
How is it done? A bit of inspiration and creativity are necessary, of course, but it is mostly accomplished by ordinary, everyday means. We sew, do carpentry, paint, water plants, do crafty things and generally have a good time enjoying each other's talents and company.
What kinds of things do we do? We developed the banners used during Lent, created the hangings we use each Easter, designed and made the various banners used seasonally within the church. We bring in the blooming plants to celebrate spring and summer and regularly tend the green plants. We do our best to create a comfortable environment in Ordinary Time, indoors and out, and we dress the church for special seasons. We produced St. Mary's host of fabric-sculpture angels. See pictures of Angels during Christmas. |
We invite you to join us! We need willing minds and helping hands in order to continue and to expand our ventures. If you are an artist, great! We can use your talents. If you enjoy carpentry, sewing, plant care (or gardening), painting, etc., you are needed and wanted here! You may join as a committee member or sign up to help out occasionally with special projects. Either way, it's a woderful means of making a difference in the way we experience community worship at St. Mary's.
How do you sign-up? Call the Parish Office at (847) 864-0333 and ask for information or fill out the online form below. A committee member will call you to answer your questions and help you get started.
